Investor Calls on Cambodia’s Justice Ministry to Investigate YY Capital Chairman
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia — A shareholder in YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has formally appealed to Cambodia’s Ministry of Justice, urging authorities to investigate alleged misconduct by the company’s chairman, Yamada Taihei. The investor claims he was defrauded and financially harmed through a series of questionable business dealings.
According to letters submitted to the ministry, Yamada, a Japanese national, is accused of breaching trust and diverting company funds for personal benefit. The investor alleges that several real estate transactions in Cambodia were manipulated, with inflated purchase prices resulting in an estimated $4 million being misappropriated.
The letters also detail claims of fabricated loan arrangements exceeding $7 million, document forgery, and the use of shell companies to divert cash. Some of the funds, the investor says, were transferred to an overseas bank account in the name of Yamada’s wife, Ye Jun.
Further allegations indicate that Yamada established shell companies in Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan, reportedly using nominees while maintaining direct control over the associated bank accounts and transactions.
Cambodian prosecutors have reportedly filed charges in at least two criminal cases related to the allegations, and certain assets and accounts have been frozen under court orders. The letters also claim that authorities in multiple countries — including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States — are investigating potential embezzlement, money laundering, document forgery, and breach of trust.
The investor urged Cambodian courts and authorities to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation, warning that without proper oversight, suspects could evade justice, intimidate witnesses, or destroy evidence.
The dispute remains under investigation, and the allegations have yet to be tested in court.
